Welcome to Year Three

We are thrilled to welcome you and your daughter to a new school year at Putney High Junior School. Although your daughter is beginning her Key Stage Two journey in rather exceptional times, the team has worked hard to ensure the start of term is calm, well-organised and engaging.

We want you to enjoy this wonderful, new school year as much as your daughter, so please do not hesitate to contact the Y3 team and ask questions if you are unsure of anything at all. We are here to help and support you all, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Best wishes,

Mrs Page-Roberts

Timetables

Equipment List

Your daughter will be given a Putney High School Pencil case in which to store her stationery.

She will need ONE other pencil case to store items such as colouring pencils etc. All of her items will then be stored in an A4 zip-lock bag.

Equipment List:

  • HB Pencils
  • Pencil Sharpener in an enclosed container
  • Rubber
  • Glue Stick
  • Scissors (right/left handed-specific)
  • 1 Purple Pen (used for editing in writing)
  • Selection of Highlighters
  • Selection of Colouring Pencils
  • Selection of Felts/Fine liners (optional)
  • 30cm Ruler (marked cm and mm not inches). Please avoid flexible/bendy rulers
  • A supply of clear A4 plastic filing wallets (for science)
  • Protractor (see example photo below)

Throughout the school year, if the guidance is still in place, particular stationery items may need to be replenished.

We will be reminding your daughter not to share her stationery items with others.

Please do not bring correction fluid such as ink-erasers or Tipp-Ex to school. Seeing pupils' mistakes is important as it helps pupils and staff to reflect on current learning and thinking, and discuss next steps to improve.

Reading

Please ensure your daughter has read the following books before joining Year Three in September 2021:

  • The BFG by Roald Dahl
  • The Racehorse Who Wouldn't Gallop by Clare Balding

Alongside these books, please continue to encourage your daughter(s) to read a wide range of books including some non-fiction and poetry.

Languages' Survey

Please take time to complete our Languages' Survey. It will help us keep an up-to-date record of the wide variety of languages spoken within our school community, and inform us of areas we can build on and develop when reviewing our MFL and Learning Enrichment provision.
